Leader in the systemic fight against corruption in Ukraine

TI Ukraine received accreditation and the right to be a representative of the global organization Transparency International in 2014 (after the Revolution of Dignity).

Key focus areas of the organization 👇

An effective anti-corruption policy. The main task is to promote anti-corruption reforms that bring Ukraine closer to EU membership. In 2023, TI Ukraine contributed to the development of the State Anti-Corruption Program and presented the second study of the capacity of anti-corruption bodies. Since the launch of the High Anti-Corruption Court in 2019, the organization has been monitoring its work, analyzing legislation, and tracking all competitions for top positions in anti-corruption agencies.

Efficient and transparent procurement. TI Ukraine helped to create the Prozorro public procurement system and became a partner in the development of the State Logistics Operator, a defense procurement agency that meets the non-lethal needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 7,5 years, 100+ criminal proceedings have been opened over procurement violations. Furthermore, in 2023, the organization helped Ukraine save UAH 500+ million during monitoring.

Transparent and accountable local government. The organization has implemented the City Transparency Rankings. They have been transformed into a study of the transparency of city councils since the beginning of the full-scale war. Over the five years of the city rankings (2017-2021), the average transparency score of local authorities has increased by 62.2%.

Confiscation and property management. TI Ukraine has launched a special portal that collects all the existing mechanisms for confiscating (pro-)Russian assets in Ukraine, their risks, and ways to neutralize them. In 2023, the organization's experts analyzed 679 assets and sent 45 relevant requests to government agencies regarding the confiscation and management of confiscated property.

Transparent and accountable reconstruction of Ukraine. TI Ukraine and its partners from the RISE UA coalition advocated for the creation and helped launch the DREAM Unified Electronic Reconstruction Management System within the RISE Ukraine coalition. The system will provide a single digital route for all reconstruction projects: from fixing damages to putting the finished objects into operation.

International cooperation. Over the years, TI Ukraine's voice has been heard in 44 countries during more than 120 international missions. Last year, experts made 15 advocacy trips to 10 countries.

Transparency International's largest and most quoted product is the Corruption Perceptions Index. It is the only comprehensive study that assesses the level of corruption perception in 180 countries. Every year, the organization analyzes Ukraine's results and provides recommendations to the government on strengthening the counteraction against corruption. Over the past 10 years, Ukraine has scored 11 points in the Index. It is one of the best results in the world in a decade.

TI Ukraine works with government officials and international partners to develop an independent and effective anti-corruption ecosystem. The team studies key draft laws, resolutions, initiatives, and policy documents and conducts its research. The organization publishes materials in major Ukrainian and international media and shares its expertise with the Ukrainian authorities, international organizations, and partners. In particular, it has provided information to the European Commission on Ukraine's European integration progress in the anti-corruption area.

Andrii Borovyk,
Executive Director of TI Ukraine
TI Ukraine today is an essential part of the public sector with strong expertise that allows us to play a significant role in the country's development. All of these achievements would not have been possible without two components: our incredible team and the Defense Forces.

Values of TI Ukraine

  • Systemic approach. Here, the team analyzes causes and consequences and offers comprehensive solutions and mechanisms to fight corruption.
  • Efficiency. It is about achieving the planned result by optimal use of available resources.
  • Innovation. The organization looks for new solutions and encourages employees to think out of the box.
  • Balance. Before a decision is made, the arguments of the involved parties are heard.
  • Unity. TI Ukraine unites those who share the organization’s values and the goal of disarming corruption in Ukraine.
  • Openness. TI Ukraine's team is transparent, honest, and accountable in its activities.
  • Proactivity. Experts of TI Ukraine do not wait for changes — they create them.

Team development is a priority

TI Ukraine's team consists of specialists from various fields: lawyers, analysts, journalists, sociologists, political scientists, economists, grant coordinators, HR specialists, accountants, managers of various levels, administrators, etc. The average age of employees is 34 years, and the average length of employment is 3.5 years.

TI Ukraine values and encourages development, both professional and personal. The organization is proud of its internal success stories. For instance, Anastasiya Mazurok, Deputy Executive Director for Operations, was originally a monitoring and evaluation manager. Kateryna Ryzhenko, the head of the powerful legal department, started as an administrative assistant. Also, a lot of colleagues come back to the organization.

Iryna Fedoriv,
HR Manager
People are a priority for us. That is why we constantly take care of the development of our team members, look for new opportunities, and offer interesting courses and programs. We put a lot of effort into creating a favorable atmosphere in the team.

TI Ukraine has a tuition reimbursement program. The organization searches for and offers specialized courses for team development. However, the TI Ukraine employees can also choose the training they need. Last year, half of the team acquired public speaking skills, and now 10 colleagues are taking the UCU certificate program European Integration. The practice of individual mastery of the necessary competencies by team members is also regular.

Pavlo Demchuk,
legal advisor at TI Ukraine
In the fall of 2023, I took a course on legal argumentation, legal writing, and public speaking. The organization covered the costs of it. The training was helpful. Now, I can find more convincing legal arguments and have become more confident in public. Some of the acquired skills were also helpful when evaluating the High Anti-Corruption Court's procedural activities.

The company also takes care of the mental health of its employees. Thanks to its partners, all employees can join free self-support webinars, assess their mental health, and get free consultations with specialists.

How and where the TI Ukraine team works and rests

The organization has an 8-hour working day. It can start between 8 am and 10 am, depending on the individual's needs. The team works online and offline, but employees are encouraged to visit the office at least twice a week. An individual work schedule can be created upon agreement with the manager. Each employee has 24 calendar days of paid vacation per year.

The organization strives to maintain a war-work-life balance.

Transparency International Ukraine offers market-based salaries and regularly reviews them in line with market changes and inflationary fluctuations.

The organization's office in the center of Kyiv is cozy and comfortable, suitable for productive concentrated work, as well as for lively team discussions or warm personal conversations. In the morning, all employees can enjoy some of the goodies (often homemade) that colleagues treat each other to. The team is pet-friendly, so all employees can come to work with their pets. But first, they have to let their colleagues know about it 🙂.

To stay in a working rhythm even in wartime, the office was equipped in case of power outages and replenished with drinking and industrial water.

TI Ukraine cares about team unity and makes essential decisions based on the ideas of the parties involved. That is why they have a well-established system of communication with colleagues, partners, and target groups. Each department has regular meetings to collect feedback from employees, discuss the context, synchronize plans and tasks, and analyze results. Employees also meet periodically for a one-on-one conversation with their managers.

The organization holds general offline and online meetings for the entire team to discuss strategic issues, important news, and challenges, celebrate victories, or support each other in difficult moments. Employees also enjoy spending time together outside the office. Colleagues regularly play volleyball, and board games, sometimes travel, go to the cinema or visit exhibitions, and share important life events.

Daria Hnoiova-Luzina,
People Partner
Our team members are on a first-name basis and do not hesitate to ask for help or personal advice. There is no place for discrimination at TI Ukraine. Everyone can feel as comfortable as possible.

The organization contributes to the defense of Ukraine

In conditions of a full-scale war, TI Ukraine deliberately decided to reduce the budget for internal events and changed the format. For instance, the team jointly made trench candles for the military on the organization's birthday. The organization itself transferred UAH 300,000 to buy 400 blood transfusion kits for the units of the Defense Forces.

Several employees joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defended the country. The organization is proud of them and supports them in every possible way.

TI Ukraine regularly donates to the army and sends the necessary equipment, including quadcopters and blood transfusion kits. The company also supports municipal authorities. In 2023, it sent motor pumps for pumping water, generators, charging stations, heaters, and furniture to 19 different cities.

In total, since February 24, 2022, TI Ukraine has donated almost UAH 9 million.

How to join TI Ukraine?

Expectations from candidates differ depending on the vacancy, but the list of key requirements always remains the same: share organization's values, zero tolerance for corruption, and interest in fighting it. Detailed requirements for candidates' skills are always specified in the job posting.

After a person sends their CV and motivation letter, there are several stages of selection:

  • a telephone conversation with the HR-manager;
  • a test task;
  • an interview with a potential manager.

The company looks not only for employees with relevant experience and skills but also for people who are ready to develop and work for results. Therefore, TI Ukraine also pays attention to soft skills and professional and personal interests.

Everyone who becomes part of the TI Ukraine team experiences a smooth adaptation period. They get to know their colleagues, study the task pool, and master working tools. The newcomer is assigned a mentor who can answer all questions. After a week and a month, the new employee has adaptation meetings with HR.

New colleagues are also given a 2-3 month paid probationary period. During it, they have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and first results and get to know the organization, processes, and culture. Based on the results of the probationary period, a joint decision is made on further cooperation.

Sophiia Nikolina,
SMM Lead
I have been working at TI Ukraine for four months, and I can confidently say that it is one of the most pleasant experiences of adaptation in the company. All employees are very polite and help me with a lot of questions. I had a personal challenge — visiting the office, but my colleagues helped me to adapt to it as well.
Iryna Basova,
Prozorro Analytical Tools Trainer for the BI Prozorro project
I was impressed by the first adaptation meeting. After that, I felt like I knew all the people I met in the corridors and even what they were doing for the organization. It was as if I had come to a team I had known for a long time. I did not meet a single person in the office who did not smile at me. After two months of probation, I had the feeling that I had always worked at TI Ukraine!

There is another way to join the team. TI Ukraine offers partially paid internships where employees can gain knowledge in the anti-corruption field, solve real-life practical cases for their portfolio, and implement the most daring creative ideas. The most skillful interns eventually join the team.

Why TI Ukraine?

The organization offers a unique opportunity to get involved in changes in the country:

  • analyze and advocate for legislative changes and reforms;
  • persuade Ukrainian authorities of the need for these changes;
  • promote Ukraine's interests abroad.

TI Ukraine takes a comprehensive approach to work and overcomes all challenges. That is why the employees always start with monitoring, data verification, and expert analysis. After that, they offer balanced and effective solutions.
