REACH Initiative is a humanitarian NGO dedicated to providing essential research, data, and analysis to enhance humanitarian action in crisis contexts. Hosted by our sister organization, ACTED, we are committed to producing high-quality research to improve the lives of people in Ukraine.

Unit Overview:

The Resilience and Early Recovery Unit’s (RERU) primary objective is to provide relevant, current data and insights to facilitate collaborative efforts between humanitarian agencies, development actors, and the government to support the transition from emergency humanitarian assistance to a more sustainable model and in support of recovery initiatives. The Urban Profiling Team within RERU focuses on research concerning urban recovery of Ukrainian cities and territories across a range of thematic areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support REACH’s urban profiling and functionality research to inform the humanitarian response in Ukraine.
  • Develop and deploy mobile data collection tools using KoBo Collect, ensuring data quality through rigorous checking and cleaning procedures utilizing R.
  • Analyze collected data using R, presenting results through both static and interactive visualizations.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure data inputs and analysis meet minimum reporting standards.
  • Support comprehensive secondary data reviews to transform publicly available datasets into intuitive and usable data platforms.
  • Enhance technical skills in the humanitarian sector in Ukraine with support from our specialist Assessment, Data, and GIS teams.
  • Coordinate with other key stakeholders, including government officials, other humanitarian actors, and the wider community in Ukraine.

Qualifications:

  • Desired experience in social sciences, data science, or information management.
  • Proficiency in Excel required; experience with R and/or Python strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in the humanitarian sector is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI or similar data visualization tools is advantageous.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and/or Russian, with good English skills.
  • Strong team player with self-motivation and a proactive approach.
  • Passion for improving the humanitarian response in Ukraine.

Reporting Structure:

The Data Officer will work under the guidance of the Senior Data Officer and the Team Lead of the Urban Profiling Team, contributing to the research processes conducted by the team.

Terms and Conditions:

  • This full-time position is initially for 6 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance.
  • Salary defined by the ACTED salary grid; educational level, expertise, hardship, security, and performance.

  • Medical insurance after 3 months of work.
