Our client is a pioneer in US schools education since 2000, it is leading the way in next-generation curriculum and formative assessment, they develop a number of solutions and interactive web products for teachers and students. Their products target educational needs of all classes – from elementary to high school. They operate in 50 states, products are used in 21,000+ schools by 7,000,000 of students.

At the moment the team consists of 4 WordPress developers, 1 QA, and a Product Owner.
They follow Agile (Scrum) and stick to monthly sprints.
The client’s culture is very similar to ours – there is no hierarchy, and a friendly and open-minded team where each voice is valuable. They also have a very solid, and mature approach to technology, best practices, and processes, with the latest frameworks and tools. They expect people to be proactive and good team players.

The WordPress developer will be responsible for the development of new web pages and shared components on new and existing sites.
Our client expect a candidate to have good English language and communication skills, who is willing to learn new technologies and contribute to the team goals.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Gutenberg effectively
  • Develop plugins for WordPress
  • Familiarity with ACF/Carbon Fields
  • Proficiency in theme development and editing in WordPress
  • Understanding of Agile principles

Requirements

  • Experience with Gutenberg
  • Experience writing plugins for WordPress
  • Experience with ACF/Carbon Fields
  • Ability to work with themes in WordPress (develop/edit)
  • Knowledge of PHP/MySQL/OOP in general
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS(SASS)/JavaScript/
  • Knowledge of Responsive Design (Bootstrap 3/4, 960 Grid, etc.)
  • Experience with version control systems (VCS): Git
  • Good understanding of Agile principles
  • Good spoken English

Nice to have

  • Experience with TypeScript, npm, Composer, React
  • Experience with Docker, Bash
  • Examples of your code, sharing of your portfolio, or repository of the pet projects
