Unit Overview:

The Resilience and Early Recovery Unit’s (RERU) primary objective is to provide relevant, current data and insights to facilitate collaborative efforts between humanitarian agencies, development actors, and the government to support the transition from emergency humanitarian assistance to a more sustainable model and in support of recovery initiatives. The Urban Profiling Team within RERU focuses on research concerning urban recovery of Ukrainian cities and territories across a range of thematic areas.

Assignment: 

REACH is seeking an experienced researcher to join this Unit to support the assessment of urban functionality. Under the supervision of the Senior Assessment Officer and the Urban Profiling Team, the Assessment Officer is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, analysis and dissemination of these assessments. Key responsibilities include drafting research designs, coordinating data collection activities, conducting data analysis, and preparing reports and analytical products. The AO collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, ensure data quality, and contribute to dissemination events and stakeholder forums.

Requirements:

  • Education in social studies, urban planning, sociology, psychology, economics, econometrics, research, or a relevant field,
  • At least 2 years in research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), data collection, and/or analytical product preparation, with an academic background as an asset.
  • Minimum of 1 year working with Ukrainian authorities, hromada representatives, and/or international/local non-governmental organizations (I/NGOs).
  • Understanding of the research process, familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian with a good command of English (at least Intermediate level B2).
  • Prior professional experience with software such as SPSS, Stata, Excel, Power BI, etc. Experience with InDesign an asset.
  • Familiarity with or advanced understanding in urban planning, decentralization, architecture, environmental studies and other relevant fields, an asset.
