OVERVIEW OF INTERNSHIP PROJECT
A key component of Mercy Corps’ strategy in responding to the situation in Ukraine is to partner with local civil society organizations (CSOs) engaged in humanitarian and resilience-building activities in the Ukraine Response. According to Mercy Corps’ partnership philosophy, CSOs are considered equal partners in program implementation, not contractors. Mercy Corps offers a whole range of support to local organizations to help them strive in what they do. This includes a number of capacity strengthening approaches.
The Partners Capacity Strengthening intern will have the opportunity to immerse in the internal work with partners, learn how CSOs operate and what challenges they face in their work, gain experience in using special tools to strengthen the capacity of CSOs, have the opportunity to join workshops and other capacity strengthening activities, and contribute to organizing a large Partnership event. The intern will also have the opportunity to gain experience in the international humanitarian and development sector and gain experience in the international humanitarian and development field.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Understand the Ukrainian and European socio-political space and its relationship to civil society development and humanitarian efforts, and be able to understand the range of stakeholders in this space.
