The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 100 countries and has 18,000 staff worldwide. About the job

The ICRC Finance and Administration Unit is seeking a highly capable Finance Responsible to join our team in Kyiv. The Finance Responsible will lead the finance team in Kyiv, support the management and program responsible in their financial decision-making, ensure the correctness of the accounting data and balance sheets, and draft reports on expenditure/budget deviation.

Start date: as soon as possible

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supervise, manage, and support a team of ten finance professionals while contributing to mentoring, coaching, and developing finance colleagues.
  • Assure timely account closing and reconciled balance sheet accounts
  • Monitor the ICRC treasury in close collaboration with the ICRC Headquarters (HQ) in Geneva
  • Ensure compliance with commitments and expenditures, check and validate payments through e-banking and at the cash desk, and address questions from internal control and audit
  • Interact with the different ICRC offices across the country and maintain accounting standards
  • Support and contribute to the drafting of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts report to update HQ on the most realistic expenditures, and annual financial reporting for the ICRC’s donors
  • Interact with various internal stakeholders to enhance their financial literacy and support them in budget and forecast exercises

About you

To be successful as Finance Responsible in the Finance and Administration Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus strong experience in finance management and accounting
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is an asset
  • Fluent command of English and Ukrainian language.
  • Computer proficiency: Office Suite, ERP, advanced Excel user.
  • At least 10 years of work experience in a similar field of activity in a mid-to-large company, not-for-profit organization, or public entity using an integrated accounting system.
  • Proven experience in team management and strong social skills.
  • Knowledge of internal control systems and best practices in financial accounting.
  • Advanced knowledge of an integrated (ERP) financial system and its flows.
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles.
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multiethnic, multicultural, and multidisciplinary environment.
