Project Assistant for Youth Empowerment – Part-time (20 hours/week) in Ukraine – October/ November 2024 (remote work)

Join the ranks of Stiftung Schüler Helfen Leben (SHL), Germany’s largest youth-led foundation, as we expand our operations in Ukraine. We are currently seeking a dedicated and talented individual to fill the role of a project coordinator based in Kyiv (or working remotely from other Ukrainian cities).

At SHL, we organize the renowned Social Day, where over 60,000 high school students raise funds to support peers in Southeast Europe, Jordan, and Ukraine. As we establish our second office outside Germany, we are eager to bring on board an exceptional professional like yourself.

This role offers a diverse scope and is structured as a local staff position until the end of June 2025 (extension is preferred, provided that sufficient funding is available). In this position, you will play a crucial role in establishing a youth empowerment program in Ukraine. You will work closely with the Program Coordinator who is also part of the Youth Empowerment Program, based in Kyiv, ensuring effective collaboration and strong local support. The focus of this program is on encouraging youth activism through informal youth education and the implementation of a small grants program. Thus, the program supports youth who want to play an active role in their society. It is designed to strengthen their skills for effective civic engagement, e.g. through seminars on relevant political or social topics as well as capacity building topics like project management.

This position involves providing support to the Project Coordinator, including but not limited to the following tasks:

• Manage the material and technical support of events (before and during events)
• Participate in the development of educational and communication content e.g. record lectures
• Social Media Management/Public relations
• Coordinate logistics issues (process planning, reporting, and evaluation)
• Acquisition and coordination of trainers and participants
• Assist with the formation of descriptive reporting
• Supervise compliance with the registration and participation processes by the participants

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

• Genuine motivation to work in an international NGO environment driven by young volunteers
• Proficiency in planning and implementing informal education initiatives (e.g. youth work, NGO training, teaching)
• Willingness to work on weekends during online and offline events to ensure successful execution and support
• Project management and/or subsidy management experience
• Ability to work independently, with a structured approach and efficient time management skills
• Proficiency in English
• Experience in working with young people and good communication skills
• Experience in the field of democracy and human rights is advantageous
• Regional expertise with intercultural and political sensitivity
