About PAH:
Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is an international non-governmental organization which since 1992 has been providing humanitarian and development help worldwide. So far, the interventions have been carried out in 46 different countries. By possessing long-standing expertise in the implementation of projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security and Livelihoods, as well as Nutrition and Education, PAH concentrates its global activities on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering from the consequences of armed conflicts, natural disasters and other humanitarian crises.
PAH has been present in Ukraine since August 2014 delivering humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable of the conflict-affected population. PAH provides assistance to internally displaced people, elderly and single mothers, working in the sectors of food security protection and livelihoods. PAH Ukraine is currently expanding programming from humanitarian to both early recovery and development-oriented interventions that provide sustainable livelihoods opportunities to the affected population.
PAH applies a strict zero-tolerance policy towards sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), sexual harassment (SH), and any inaction in response to such misconduct by its personnel, partners, or stakeholders. The organization is committed to preventing harm, ensuring a safe and respectful environment, and taking timely and appropriate action when harm occurs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direct supervision of the PSS Officer, assist in the effective and timely implementation of project tasks in accordance with the work plan ;
- To implement project tasks and fulfill responsibilities related to the position, a mobile work format is applied. Travel to different settlements within the Kharkivska Oblast is carried out based on the direct supervisor’s instructions and/or a previously approved work plan;
- Dissemination of information among the local population, institutions, various types of institutions, and public organizations on the implementation of Polish Humanitarian Action projects;
- Search for locations and beneficiaries for group and individual events;
- Assisting the psychologist in conducting group sessions with children and adolescents;
- Іmplement child protection activities as planned;
- Be a delegated person for child protection issues;
- Monitor service standards in accordance with the РАН child protection policy and internal regulations;
- Conducting group psychosocial sessions (support groups, psychoeducation, game, art, movement practices, etc.) for vulnerable categories, taking into account age, culture and context;
- Organization of relevant project activities related to psychosocial activities to improve the psycho-emotional state of children, adolescents and adults (teachers/educators, parents, guardians or persons in loco parentis) affected by the military conflict;
- Conducting needs assessments to provide appropriate services and implement projects in the best interests of beneficiaries and communities;
- To redirect, refer, and advise on the available services of specialists in the field of the event according to the needs of the beneficiary;
- Participation in supervisions conducted by an external supervisor and PSS Officer;
- Continuous professional development, participation in training organized by the PAH and independent search for additional information resources;
- Involvement in the development of methodological material that will be used during the project implementation;
- Participation in protection events (to present the organization’s activities);
- Conducting awareness raising activities on protection topics for PAH staff and beneficiaries;
- Preparation of weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reporting in accordance with guidelines, including follow-up on improvements;
- Preparation/storage of project documentation;
- Interaction with other departments to achieve common project goals;
- Act as a focal point of contact to coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and governmental institutions to perform accurate analysis of current situation to ensure efficient problem solving approach;
- Promote the formation of partnerships at the community level, in particular by initiating the signing of Memorandums of Cooperation with organizations that complement the protection activities of
- Ensure compliance with the principles of security and personal data protection in the work of community centers in accordance with the PAH’s internal policies;
- Perform other tasks delegated by the PSS Officer.
Social Worker will be selected based on the qualification requirements described below:
- a degree in social work, education or psychology;
- experience of working in the social sector with single-parent families and adolescents;
- experience of providing social services in the social sector;
- experience of organising activities to provide psychosocial support to people affected by armed conflict and an understanding of the broader context of the conflict;
- ability to work as part of a team;
- previous experience in a similar role at other organisations would be an advantage;
- good command of Russian and Ukrainian;
- excellent computer skills, particularly in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Docs;
- ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
