3 Psychologists in Sumy

Emmaus & AVSI Foundation seeking to recruit 3 suitable qualified Ukranian Nationals for the position of Psychologist to be based in Sumy and working in Sumska Oblast for 6 months.

  • Closing Date:  8 August 2022
  • Period: 6 months (initial 1 months’ probation period and possibility of extension based on performance)
  • Starting Date: 15 July 2022

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Duty Station: Sumy
  • Remuneration Package: 38.000 – 45.000 UAH per month based on the experience and qualification (taxes included)

Aim of the position: The position of psychologist consists of monitoring the educational activities that volunteers will carry out with children and parents, by conducting interviews, making a diagnosis on the typology of vulnerability and the psycho-social care pathway, follow-up and accompanying the project beneficiaries, and carrying out the activities planned by the project in cooperation with the other team members and under the supervision of the protection specialist, the field coordinator and the project manager.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the implementation and monitoring of all activities planned by the project within the targeted areas (active targeting, community sensitisation, etc.) and in general of the organisation’s activities in the project implementation areas;
  • Support the project team in the development and implementation of psychosocial support activities;
  • Follow up the status of volunteers and other project staff and planning strategies in coordination with the protection specialist;
  • Identification and case management of children and adults in need of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS);
  • Making referrals to other support services for beneficiaries, in line with the specific needs identified and the range of services available;
  • Identification of more severe cases in need of additional assistance;
  • Filling in the working tools for identification and follow-up: surveys and follow-up sheets, etc;
  • Ensure detailed information sharing about the evolution of the activities under his/her responsibility whenever requested by his/her hierarchy;
  • Participate in the activities and actively participate in their training to ensure the sustainability of the training;
  • Select beneficiaries, in collaboration with the project team members;
  • Meet with beneficiaries in group and individual sessions;
  • Write periodical activity reports;
  • Report, document and follow up on problematic cases on a case by case basis in collaboration with the project team members;   
  • Promote knowledge of child rights, child protection and gender issues among beneficiaries and other stakeholders;
  • Carry out/collaborate in any other tasks requested by the psychologist coordinator, the project coordinator and the project manager.

Diploma / Level of study / Experience (s)

  • Have completed at least a bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Humanities or Social Sciences, with a specialisation in Psychology);
  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of the themes of protection and children’s rights, human rights, gender and GBV, peaceful conflict resolution; 
  • Have a good knowledge of the existing state and legal mechanisms for the protection of human rights in Ukraine;
  • Have a good knowledge of the context and dynamics of the disadvantaged neighbourhoods of Ukraine. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Integrity and confidentiality – being honest, reliable and ethical; respecting the principle of confidentiality in discussions with beneficiaries, and applying the principles of data protection, according to AVSI policy;
  • Quality awareness – paying attention to detail in the execution of a task, ensuring responsible and quality work; 
  • Team spirit – contributing to a good working atmosphere, respecting colleagues and promoting teamwork and the achievement of common goals;
  • Communication – fostering good communication with beneficiaries and colleagues, being able to address different audiences and convey messages;
  • Stress resistance – have good resilience to stressful and difficult situations;
  • Time management – good organisational and time management skills, able to work under tight deadlines
  • Initiative – show initiative and proactivity in case management, in organising the activities of the listening centre and in proposing solutions for the cases followed up;
  • Fluency in Ukraine – have a good knowledge of written and spoken Ukraine. English is a plus
