Global Communities is seeking a qualified Capacity Building Coordinator to support the Partnerships Manager in overseeing the capacity building of LNGO and CSO partner organizations, in close cooperation with other Grants and Partnership team members and sector and technical leads. This will include supporting and coordinating GC’s capacity building programming under the direction of the Partnerships Manager, and in collaboration with technical and sector leads. The role is responsible for developing and overseeing training and capacity building to partners. This position reports to the Partnerships Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review GC and partner implementation plans and work closely with technical and sector leads, and partners to ensure plans are implemented in a cohesive manner.
  • Participate in planning meetings to coordinate capacity building within the program.
  • Conduct reviews, assessments and focus groups to identify key capacity gaps, methods to manage and mitigate risks, and share findings and recommendations with relevant departments and country leadership.
  • Support the development of the capacity building plan, at the direction of the Partnership Manager.
  • Develop capacity building resources and source capacity building tools in close coordination with technical and sector leads.
  • Develop and provide training to staff on capacity building, facilitating trainings, and the development of capacity building resources.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other implementing partners.
  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and three-month work plans in a timely manner, and incorporate supervisor feedback as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required; degree in social sciences, international development or other related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ prior experience working in humanitarian emergency, conflict, post-conflict, or post-disaster settings.
  • Familiarity with change management principles and practices to effect long-term sustainable change.
  • Experience in capacity building of host country staff in programmatic, leadership and management skills.
  • Familiarity with USAID/BHA requirements.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with project stakeholders, in-country collaborators, and staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectuate change through effective communication of new ideas, and ability to negotiate and persuade effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize key drivers of organizational change and utilize evidence and learning for optimal positive change.
  • Exemplary time management, multi-tasking skills, and attention to detail necessary to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team player who can work collaboratively and with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • A strong understanding of the Ukraine context.
  • Computer literacy, familiarity with word processing, excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 25%) to difficult and challenging environments for trips ranging from one to six weeks.
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English, and Ukrainian and/or Russian. Must be able to read and interpret documents, and communicate with others as necessary to perform job duties effectively.
