BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
the affected populations in Ukraine. In July 2022, WFP Ukraine served over 2.8 million people through cash transfers and in-kind food distribution. WFP works closely with various partner organizations on the ground to assess needs and provide assistance to the affected population.
In order to scale up its response, WFP Ukraine is hiring a Program Policy Officer to be based in Odesa.
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme, the Programme Policy Officer will be responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of food assistance activities. The job holder will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and supporting program activities that require a thorough understanding of programme/project context, issues, and ability to apply a range of guidelines/practices.
Job purpose: Provide effective planning, coordination and support to programme activities so as to effectively meet food assistance needs of affected population.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Experience: Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible work experience in project management, implementation, food security, livelihood, education, or similar programs.
Knowledge & Skills
Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Ability to effectively communicate in Ukrainian and Russian.
