Starting August 2020, IREX implements the USAID-funded project, Ukraine National Identity Through Youth (UNITY) Activity (програма «Мріємо та діємо»). This five-year activity is designed to foster vested ownership among Ukrainian youth in their country’s democratic, European future by further mobilizing youth leadership around a values-based conception of Ukrainian identity grounded in innovation, engagement, and pluralism.  

POSITION SUMMARY:

IREX Ukraine seeks a responsible and collaborative Program Assistant (PA) to provide day to day programmatic support to UNITY Civic Engagement and Social Cohesion team. Under the supervision of Civic Engagement and Social Cohesion Lead, PA will work closely with Civic Engagement and Social Cohesion Team to support UNITY efforts to broaden youth engagement in civic and community problem solving as well as to support youth as drivers of Ukraine’s pluralism and respect for diversity. The position is based in Kyiv.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide programmatic, financial, administrative, and logistical support to ensure smooth implementation of the program;
  • Assist in planning and organization of program offline and online events (trainings, workshops, working group meetings, conferences, etc.);
  • Asist in procuring goods and services, provide administrative support with payments, contracts etc;
  • Draft program-related documents, reports, and success stories;
  • Provide support to monitoring and evaluation activities, data collection, and reporting;
  • Translate program-related documents (English/Ukrainian);
  • Maintain effective communication with program partners, beneficiaries, consultants, suppliers;
  • Provide logistical support for UNITY project staff and events;
  • Travel to regions to support program events;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completed secondary education;
  • Motivation to learn and grow professionally in the field of international development projects;
  • Interest in youth programming;
  • Experience of civic activism and/or local project implementation and/or work with youth to bring positive change would be an advantage;
  • Experience of volunteering would be an advantage;
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • A strong work ethic and attention to details;
  • A positive and cooperative attitude and willingness to work as a member of a team;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and follow stated deadlines;
  • Ability to take initiative and be flexible;
  • Quick learner;
  • Fluency (written and oral) in Ukrainian and English;
  • Ability to travel (contingent upon actual epidemiological situation and based on security recommendations provided by IREX and Government)
