 Position Title: Senior Project Assistant (CBI)

Duty Station: Dnipro, Ukraine

Classification: General Service Staff, Grade G6

Type of Appointment: Special Short-Term, Six months with possibility of extension

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

 Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 Context: 

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Program Officer (CBI), and the direct supervision of the Operation Officer (CBI), the Senior Project Assistant (CBI) will provide specialized support to the implementation of IOM Ukraine’s Cash Programme efforts focused on response activities.

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  1. Support the Program Officer (CBI) and Operation Officer (CBI) in the overall planning, implementation and monitoring of cash-based interventions (CBI) activities. Provide support with oral/written translation to and from English as needed.
  2. Participate, alternately, in the Dnipro Hub Cash Working Group.
  3. Assist in the coordination of IOM’s CBI efforts within the context of the relevant sectors.
  4. Liaise with Implementing Partners (IP) as well as with relevant national and local working-level government contacts as necessary, under the guidance of the Program Officer and Operation Officer (CBI).
  5. Support the Operations Officer (CBI) with coordination of the procurement and administrative processes.
  6. Contribute to regular reporting (IOM internal, IOM external, UN-related, and situation reporting), correspondence, publication, and presentation materials.
  7. Track relevant national development pertaining to CBI, analyse, summarize and present findings.
  8. Support the development and application of CBI programme visibility and communications.
  9. Coordinate logistics and take part in organization of CBI activities and events (meetings, presentations, discussions, visits, etc.).
  10. Accompany CBI field work to respond to the needs of the population of interest on a need basis.
  11. Support the mapping of CBI needs and beneficiaries.
  12. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education 

  • High school diploma with six years of relevant experience;

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience 

  • Experience working with authorities and civil society.
  • Experience working with IDPs/refugees and/or vulnerable populations.
  • Experience with organizational and administrative duties.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring CBI activities.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian activities and context is advantageous.
  • Experience in community participation and cohesion, is advantageous.
  • Experience throughout the project cycle is an asset, including project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Experience of working in a UN agency or International NGO is an asset.
  • Knowledge of CBI and similar activities.
  • Knowledge of activity planning and implementation.
  • Ability to implement administrative and financial control procedures.
  • Proven drafting, writing, and reporting skills.
  • Strong proficiency on Microsoft Office Suite.

Languages

Fluency in English, and Ukrainian (oral and written) is required. Russian is desirable.
