Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work, with 22,199 employees. As a public-benefit federal enterprise, GIZ supports the German Government – in particular the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) – and many public and private sector clients in around 120 countries in achieving their objectives in international cooperation. With this aim, GIZ works together with its partners to develop effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions.
At present, GIZ in Ukraine operates on behalf of four German Federal Ministries. Additionally, we work for the European Union (EU) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Together with our partners, we are promoting EU approximation and the reform process in Ukraine.

The current priorities of German-Ukrainian cooperation are: good governance, energy efficiency and climate and sustainable economic development. Cooperation work outside these priority areas includes the effective long-term management of the situation in the east of the country, which focuses on strengthening the capacities of local communities hosting internally displaced people.

Tasks

• Procurement of goods and services;
• Processing of financing agreements;
• Preparation and implementation of tenders in accordance with the GIZ rules ;
• The conclusion of contracts with suppliers/contractors, local subsidy contracts;
• Market analysis, evaluation of results, contribution to the development and maintenance of the supplier pool;
• Providing complete advice on all procurement-related issues for assigned projects; Conducting an efficient and constructive dialogue with the projects / programs on procurement-related topics;
• Effective cooperation with colleagues from headquarters (contract department, procurement specialists, etc.);
• The monitoring of the concluded contracts and maintenance of the associated Software;
• Takes control all framework agreements and long-terms agreements in area of responsibility, including monitoring the duration of the agreements, negotiating with the contractors about the conditions required by GIZ, receiving and documenting the necessary permits for the deviations, concluding the agreements.

Qualifications

• BA or MA degree in a related area, e.g. business management with a focus on finance, controlling, purchasing or contract management or similar area;
• Minimum 3 years of work experience procurement in international organisation;
• Outstanding working knowledge of ITC technologies, MS Office/Office 365 ( Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams Power point,). SAP or other ERP system experience will be an asset;
• Good command of English (knowledge of German will be an asset);
• Team player with intercultural experience (work/studying);
• Strong organizational and planning competences;
• Proactive, innovative and hands-on attitude ;
• High degree of discretion and integrity;
• Ability to work flexibly and independently, also under stressful conditions;
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.

Assignment

Full-time position with 40 hours working week. Contract duration is one year. Prolongation is possible.
