Position Title: Senior Project Assistant (M&E)

Duty Station: Kyiv, Ukraine

Classification: General Service Staff, Grade G6

Type of Appointment: Special short-term, Six months with possibility of extension

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Emergency and Stabilization Programme Coordinator, and the direct supervision of the M&E Specialist, the Senior Project Assistant (M&E) will provide specialized support to the implementation of IOM, Mission in Ukraine’s efforts in Emergency and Stabilization Unit with regard to reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Draft data collection tools, templates, and assist in regular data collection process.
  2. Review and compile monitoring reports, project progress reports, evaluation reports, photographs, case studies video documentaries, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
  3. Coordinate collection of case stories, best practice documentation, lessons learned; updating and maintaining that information in project’s reports and other knowledge products.
  4. Collaborate with the project team to prepare periodic reports of the project by providing M&E related information.
  5. Provide technical support and guidance to staff members for all M&E related activities including training of staff members on M&E concepts, skills, and tools.
  6. Draft training materials, communication materials, and knowledge products related to the program/project and M&E.
  7. Participate in virtual and offline internal and external monitoring, organize and facilitate various events such as meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars.
  8. Act as focal point for administrative coordination for implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
  9. Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
  10. Provide guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; may supervise other staff as assigned.
  11. Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
  12. Undertake duty travels within Ukraine.
  13. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High School degree with six years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization;
  • Knowledge of M&E, project development and reporting principles;
  • Proven ability to use software solutions for data collection and analysis.

Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required.
