We are currently looking for a Research Manager (RM) to lead the REACH Emergency Team (ET) in conducting rapid multi-sectoral assessments in frontline and hard-to-reach areas of Ukraine. The Emergency Team lead will provide leadership to a small, highly talented and agile team dedicated to working in frontline communities affected by sudden-onset emergencies and those rarely accessed by international aid partners. The ET analyses secondary and primary data to develop regular, short reports containing crucial information on frontline developments and shifts in humanitarian needs. The reports are used by humanitarian partners to respond more effectively.
REACH Initiative is a unique humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian intervention in crisis contexts. By providing precise and rigorous information on the humanitarian situation of crisis-affected populations in Ukraine, REACH informs better aid delivery and more transparent and reliable decision making. In Ukraine, REACH is hosted by our sister organisation, ACTED.
IMPACT is seeking a Research Manager to lead its Emergency Team in conducting rapid assessments on humanitarian needs, particularly in frontline and otherwise hard-to-access areas of Ukraine. The Emergency Team consists of 7 permanent staff with expertise in research, analysis, GIS and data statistics.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Country Coordinator (DCC), the RM will lead the team in meeting its contractual targets, pursue new funding, develop and perfect its assessment methodologies, research activities, and dissemination strategies. The RM provides technical support to assessment methodologies, reviews quantitative and qualitative analyses and report drafts prior to publication. The role will involve missions into high-risk areas to engage with communities within 20 km of the frontline.
The RM plays a leading role in building and maintaining key external relations with senior staff in the humanitarian coordination infrastructure, the UN, national and international INGOs. It is the responsibility of the RM to ensure ET activities remain responsive to information gaps in the response, and that networks to enable effective access and dissemination of analyses are developed and maintained.
Additionally, as a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the ET lead functions as the primary organisational focal point for the Ukraine mission in the East, main liaison with IMPACT’s partner organisation ACTED, and provide continuous backstopping support to other IMPACT staff in the Dnipro base. This position is based in Dnipro, Ukraine, with travel in the East and South of the country, including conflict-affected oblasts such as Kharkisvka, Donetska, Zaporizhzhiska and Khersonska.
