What do you imagine when you hear about OKKO?

We bet that filling stations are the first thing that comes to your mind. Even if you do not have a car, you have probably seen OKKO filling stations throughout Ukraine.

But OKKO is much more than that. It provides

  • 21 quality control laboratories for petroleum products;
  • sale of goods through filling station shops;
  • sale, storage, and transportation of petroleum products;
  • the country’s largest network of roadhouses, including 400+ cafes and 31 restaurants, which operate under the brands A la minute, Pasta Mia, and Meiwei;

OKKO provides a lot of job positions: filling station operators, IT specialists, marketers, cooks, accountants, salespeople, designers, analysts... In short, there are positions for everyone.

Mission and values

To determine corporate values, the company conducted numerous studies. Thanks to these studies, the company understood what helps employees be efficient, satisfied, and work with drive. As a result, the values and mission of the company appeared. They are based on the real work experience of employees.

OKKO's mission is to bring more good ideas to life in Ukraine.

OKKO values:

  • OKKO is people;
  • We believe in the power of ideas;
  • We believe in the power of a good mood;
  • We always want more.

Why is working for OKKO a good idea?

Everything is reliable here

OKKO is a large and reliable employer. Therefore, all OKKO employees are officially employed and have days off, sick leaves, and vacations following current legislation. The employees are also provided with medical insurance. It allows having a consultation with a doctor and compensates employees for medical expenses. OKKO is one of the few companies in the retail industry that provides insurance for all employees.

OKKO employees receive discounts on company products — fuel and meals in restaurants and cafes, and compensation for mobile phone expenses. Labor union members get affordable prices on gym memberships, tickets to the theater or concerts, and discounts on vacations, for example, in the Carpathians.

During the full-scale war, a sense of protection and reliability significantly increased. OKKO puts value on its employees and always cares about them. The company has programs and initiatives to support employees during the war period.

We analyzed how the needs of employees and candidates have changed since the start of the full-scale invasion. Nowadays, employees usually ask such questions while applying for a job: Does the employer help its employees and the country? Is the company reliable and stable? Can the employees count on the company in full? OKKO is an example to follow on the market because we:

  • ●       pay all taxes, support the economy by providing jobs and salaries;
  • ●       provide health insurance to all employees;
  • ●       continue to pay average wages to mobilized employees;
  • ●       provided accommodation and compensation to forcibly relocated workers during March-April 2022;
  • ●       help colleagues who moved to other regions with employment;
  • ●       do not stop the active search and recruitment of employees since the first days of the full-scale war and until now;
  • ●       continue internal projects for the training and development of employees. OKKO constantly prepares personnel for management positions.
Yevheniia Kuzmynska,
HR Director of OKKO

Humanity and a friendly team distinguish OKKO from other companies. I have been working for OKKO in Kharkiv since 2018 and have always been happy to be a part of a friendly team.

From the first day of the war, Kharkiv residents had to hide in basements. There were terrible days. We stayed in the city because we did not believe in the new reality. Such a horror could not happen in the 21st century. It seemed that someone should stop this, but Kharkiv continued to be shelled by aircraft, tanks, and other weapons.

My colleagues called me, offered help, and asked me to leave. The fear of losing our lives forced us to leave.

I thought I was going to the middle of nowhere, but the company found an apartment for me and reimbursed me for my accommodation expenses. I also received financial assistance from the trade union. I was not left alone with the trouble. It is a fantastic team!

Natalia Husieva,
Personnel Inspector

Everyone's work is essential here

Small achievements of people, who do their daily work well, make OKKO successful and effective. There are more than 10,000 employees in 11 offices, 400 filling stations, and other divisions. They are united by perseverance, responsibility, and conscientious performance of assigned tasks.

OKKO always encourages the initiative of its employees. Everyone has the opportunity to influence the processes in the company and submit ideas that can be approved and implemented. For the most part, teams work according to KPIs. They are set according to the business indicators that the company wants to achieve.

OKKO is a critical infrastructure company that supports the work of Ukrainian businesses, the army, hospitals, emergency services, etc. Therefore, every employee, regardless of whether they work at a filling station or in the office, plays an important role and feels the responsibility and value of their work.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, the company set a goal to provide the armed forces, businesses, and life support services with fuel to win. Everyone had to cope with the shortage of oil products on the Ukrainian market, work on the hotline, process over a hundred requests, systematize, show results, and provide fuel for businesses.

Nowadays, the situation with providing fuel has improved. However, no one knows what challenges await us in the future. There is a feeling that we are ready for any twists and turns of fate. We know our work is essential for the country, businesses, and people. We also realize that the company provides jobs, taxes, and economic independence, and it gives us more strength to achieve better results.

Oleksii Ivanov,
Sales Development Manager

OKKO is convinced that responsible businesses should not remain aloof from issues important to society. Therefore, at a time when all citizens are united to protect Ukraine's independence from enemy attacks, OKKO also joined initiatives aimed at helping the country. It is the provision of fuel for charitable foundations, volunteers, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service, doctors, the renovation of damaged infrastructure, the purchase of ambulances, free meals for the soldiers, etc. Last year, the company launched its large-scale initiative EYE FOR AN EYE with the help of the charitable foundation Come Back Alive.

The OKKO network has been helping those who defend the country and those who have been rebuilding it since the first days of the war. We donated more than 200 million hryvnias for the military needs in 2022.

In November 2022, our company and the Come Back Alive Foundation launched the EYE FOR AN EYE project to purchase 25 SHARK intelligence complexes worth UAH 325 million. Filling up with fuel is an everyday thing. If you buy fuel at OKKO filling stations, you bring victory closer. We need to turn our PULLS fuel into revenge against the enemy. Thus, we donate 1 hryvnia from each filled liter to help the Armed Forces. The driving community is powerful. There are more than four million drivers in Ukraine, and about a quarter of them fill up with fuel in OKKO every day. As a result, we collected the necessary amount of money in five months.

We are not going to stop. The second part of the project, We will arm the TDF to the teeth, has already started. The goal is even more ambitious. UAH 400 million for machine guns, grenade launchers, and mortars for the TDF Forces.

Vasyl Dmytriv,
Marketing Director of OKKO

The company is also concerned about the environment. There are containers for sorting garbage, waste paper, and used items in offices and filling stations. At the same time, the OKKO team helps people in need. Second-hand items are given to the poor, and the money for the handed-in waste paper is transferred to the educational and rehabilitation center Dzherelo in Lviv.

In addition, the company has started using renewable energy, namely solar energy, since 2017. Soon, every fourth OKKO filling station will use solar energy for its needs. In 2019, the largest facade solar power plant in western Ukraine with a capacity of up to 200,000 kWh per year was installed on the central office building in Lviv.

Employees' time is respected here

The company has a central office in Lviv and ten regional offices. The design of the central office is created in a high-tech style. It has open spaces and separate offices with glass walls, meeting rooms, a summer terrace, and lounges.

Employees can always drink coffee/tea, eat croissants or cookies, relax, watch the fish in the aquarium, or play table tennis or Playstation during their break.

If you need to concentrate on your work so that no one distracts you, the conference hall will be a perfect place. There are five of them on our floor alone.

During my lunch break, I enjoy having a great time in the relaxation area where I can play SonyPlaystation with my colleagues. It is a great way to change the scenery, relax, and boost your energy.

Nataliia Onyshchuk,
Personnel Assessment Expert

Specialists from other regions come to the central office to resolve work issues, have training sessions, gain experience, and participate in team events. If the required specialist lives in another place and the company wants them to join the team in Lviv, OKKO can help this specialist with relocation.

Office workers work from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The employees can amend their schedules. Someone can work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., someone — from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Filling station employees work in shifts. So, they can easily combine work with education or parenthood.

OKKO also takes care of the children of employees. The children's room, called Hryphonchyky, is available in the central office in Lviv. The employees can leave their children aged 3 to 12 under the supervision of highly trained instructors during the working day. The children's room is divided into zones designed to meet the needs of children of different ages: a creative zone where children can play board games, draw, and sculpt; a game room for physical activity and a relaxation zone with soft chairs for rest and reading. The instructor organizes children's leisure time and conducts various creative classes, master classes, and activities. The children's room is a full-fledged element of the company's corporate culture.

You can achieve more if you are a part of OKKO

The company has many tools for the training and career development of employees. An internal training department provides constant training sessions and involves a lot of external resources to develop the employee's skills.

Remote courses on service, effective sales, and cash register training sessions are held for all filling station employees. Mentoring and competence development programs for managers, as well as the Career Elevator program, are also available.

The purpose of the Career Elevator program is to help ambitious operators who aspire to become filling station managers realize their potential. Selected candidates undergo three-month management training. They gain the knowledge and skills needed for an effective manager during various courses, training sessions, and mentoring. The finalists of the program are included in the personnel reserve and can occupy management positions. More than 200 graduates of the Career Elevator program got such positions.

Filling station employees can also participate in internal competitions to apply for vacant positions in the company's offices.

There are a lot of training programs based on modern trends and helpful tools for office workers. These are interactive online courses, dynamic training, workshops, and team business games. These workshops and training sessions can help participants put the acquired knowledge into practice. The English language courses are popular among employees.

OKKO provides its office employees with horizontal or vertical career growth. The employees often have meetings with the HR business partner and heads of departments where they can share their wishes and discuss their professional path in the company.

Olena Stankevych,
Head of the Personnel Selection and Evaluation Department
I joined the company in 2011 as an HR inspector in the regional office. Later, I began recruiting personnel for different positions at the filling stations. Nowadays, I manage the entire recruiting department and am responsible for the selection and evaluation of personnel throughout Ukraine.
Olena Voroshylo,
Operations Director of the OKKO Network
Almost all of our supervisors were successful managers in OKKO. Most of the current regional directors also started their careers as operators or managers at filling stations. After all, 20 years ago, in August 2002, I started working in OKKO as a filling station operator. In three months, I was transferred to the head office. In 2005, I became the head of the business processes department. Over the following years, I was constantly promoted. In 2010, I became the company's director of operations. So, my path is proof that our company has been providing all honest and successful employees with significant opportunities for development and self-realization for more than 20 years.

A warm atmosphere is in the air

Mutual support, a warm atmosphere, and cozy meetings are always essential for the OKKO team. Therefore, in 2022, a series of events aimed at deepening knowledge about the culture and traditions of the native country were held.

So, Leonid Martynchyk, a fashion expert, held a master class called Formula of Ukrainian Ethnostyle. During the meeting, Leonid told how to distinguish Ukrainian ethnic style from others and add Ukrainian motifs to everyday images competently.

To support the Christmas and New Year atmosphere in the team, OKKO held a masterclass on making Didukh in its central office. Didukh is a symbol of Christmas in the homes of our ancestors. The participants learned more about the traditions of the celebration in ancient times, shared their own family stories, and made Didukhs for their colleagues from regional offices.

A Charity Fair was also organized within the company to raise funds for the needs of the military. The event was a win-win because it allowed everyone to unite, do some good things, and see the talents of colleagues. Some employees made fascinating things with their own hands, others had the opportunity to purchase exhibited lots. There were homemade sweets, painted cups, handmade decorations, books, children's games, and even snail huts. It was also possible to order professional services such as a photo session, make-up, consultation on a personal brand on social networks, and psychological support. Colleagues liked the proposal so much that most of the lots were sold at once.

In addition, OKKO pays a lot of attention to sports activities. There is a corporate mini-football tournament — men's and women's leagues — where regional office teams and filling station workers compete. Every year a table tennis tournament is held in the central office. OKKO has also created its running community — #OKKODreamTeam, which always participates in races and marathons in different cities.

OKKO believes in people

Despite the challenges of 2022, the OKKO company entered the TOP-25 list of employers open to young talents under the age of 25 according to STUD-POINT.

We believe in people. They are the basis of our culture. Therefore, we do not stop searching for and attracting talented people in difficult times. There have always been vacant positions in the company.

In 2022, OKKO joined/held more than 12 events in cooperation with top universities in Ukraine. We told students about opportunities for employment, promotion, career building in various areas, and the peculiarities of finding yourself and working in times of war in the OKKO company. We also shared life hacks and tips about job search channels.

Our systematic work with young people aims at an educational function so that students have up-to-date information about the labor market. We want to help everyone understand the nuances of job search in Ukraine and find skilled people to work in the OKKO team. We have the opportunity to train, develop, and allow them to grow together with the team.

Olena Kirichenko,
Employer Brand Development Manager

I joined the company as a five-year student. Once, OKKO organized a career fair at our university and presented its job vacancies. I was interested, firstly, in the fact that the company has been on the market for a long time and has a development vector, and secondly, the company's values resonated with me. So I filled out the questionnaire.

I saw how the values that resonated with me at first are embodied in my daily work. The company indeed cares for and respects its employees a lot. Regardless of your position, you can express your ideas, influence your work and the work of others, and achieve more together with OKKO.

Alla Romaniuk,
Recruitment Expert

There are job positions in OKKO for specialists of various ages and specialties. Everyone will have a reliable mentor, a friendly team, and opportunities for professional growth and personal development.

How to become a part of OKKO?

While hiring new people, OKKO pays attention to the fact whether the values of a candidate coincide with those of the company or not. After all, shared values help the candidate to realize themselves at work in full, and the company builds an effective business with their help.

The new employees must be:

  • open to new things and support changes;
  • humane, attentive to the needs of others, and ready to help;
  • optimistic, able to control their emotions;
  • responsible in their attitude to tasks and persistent in achieving results.

To check whether a candidate fits these parameters, OKKO asks the candidates to model their behavior in situations that the employees often face. If it turns out that the candidate is guided by different values when solving the situation it means that it will be uncomfortable and ineffective for them to work in the corporate culture of OKKO.

The stages of selection in OKKO for an office employee and the employee who provides services at a filling station are slightly different.

During the selection of office workers, CVs, and hard skills are analyzed more deeply. There are interviews with a recruiter and a manager. The recruiter evaluates soft skills and compliance with the company’s values, and the manager evaluates the hard skills required for this position. Then, the candidate fills out the questionnaire and passes the test. If everything is good, we make an offer and wait for an answer.

The filling station employee has a telephone interview with the recruiter and a face-to-face meeting with the manager at the filling station. During this meeting, the candidate fills out a questionnaire, takes a test, and receives feedback.

Olena Stankevich,
Head of the Personnel Selection and Evaluation Department

By the way, all candidates receive feedback. This rule is prescribed in the selection procedure. Within 10 days, recruiters send feedback. If the feedback is negative, the recruiters explain the reasons for rejection.

I am in the OKKO team.What is next?

Newcomers receive a welcome pack and a letter with a link that gives access to an online course. This course will help newcomers get to know more about OKKO.

During the adaptation period, the manager makes a plan and goals for the new employee, discusses everything, and helps with all processes.

Working conditions in OKKO, the company's attitude towards employees, and opportunities for their development contribute to the fact that people have been working here for many years.

OKKO is my first serious job. I have been working here for five years.

After completing my studies, like most graduates, I faced the realities of the labor market. It was complicated to find a job without experience. At that time, OKKO was one of the few employers in Lviv willing to hire specialists without expertise. I took advantage of this chance. The head of the department and the HR director believed in my abilities, and I started my work and career in OKKO.

I have been improving my skills and abilities, growing and developing personally and professionally for five years. I value every day spent in a driven team of like-minded people because their values coincide with mine. OKKO puts a high value on its employees, and it's great.
