Black & Veatch is looking for a highly skilled and experienced local Senior Energy Advisor for the ongoing USAID Investments in Developing Energy Assets (IDEA) project in Ukraine. The Senior Energy Advisor will be responsible for providing technical and strategic advice on energy infrastructure projects to clients. The role requires a deep understanding of energy markets, energy infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks, as well as experience in project development, finance, and management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and strategic advice on energy infrastructure projects to clients, including project feasibility, financing, and risk management
  • Conduct market research and analysis on energy markets and infrastructure trends
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, investors, project site teams, and industry experts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project development, including engineering, legal, finance, and risk management
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
  • Develop proposals and presentations for clients and stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory frameworks and policy developments related to energy infrastructure projects
  • Mentor and coach junior team members

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, finance, economics, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in energy infrastructure project development, including feasibility study technical, financing, and management aspects
  • 5+ years’ experience working on donor-funded projects directly (e.g., USAID, EBRD, etc.), thought implementing partner or a local counterpart/beneficiary
  • Deep understanding of energy markets, energy infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and delivering results
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching team members
  • Experience in microgrids, distributed generation, renewables, or conventional generation are highly desired
  • Proven International / Local experience (at least two sites from scoping to permit for construction) in well-established engineering company will be an advantage
  • Fluent in English and Ukrainian (both written and oral)
