About the job 

The ICRC ICT recruits an Information & Communication Technology Engineer (ICT) to be based in its Kyiv office with regular visits to the different offices in Ukraine. In close cooperation with the team members and line managers, the ICT Engineer will be responsible for leading the installation, maintenance, and adaptation of very large and highly complex computer and telecommunications infrastructure projects. This involves adhering to ICRC standards and incorporating emerging technological solutions within the scope of responsibility defined by the position.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Independently contribute to the definition, documentation, and support of the transition of new standards related to computer and telecommunication infrastructure
  • Independently lead installations, maintenance, and adaptation of very large size and high complexity computer and telecommunications infrastructure projects in combination with the ICRC standards and emergent tech solutions
  • Monitor ICT installations throughout a wide region and, in consultation with the ICT coordinator and hierarchical superiors, take appropriate measures to guarantee their evolution and their proper functioning and that policies and procedures are followed
  • Test ICT services and infrastructure (hardware and software) to ensure optimal performance and compliance
  • Explore and test new tech solutions and adapt their usage in the ICRC environment
  • Independently manage and represent ICRC in specific telecom or IT projects with National Societies or other external partners
  • Provide expert-level technical support and training on ICT-related matters in the area of responsibility

About you

To be successful as an ICT Engineer in the ICT Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
  • Master degree or equivalent in telecommunications, electronics, computer science or related field
  • ICT Management Certification (ITIL), Project Management (PMP, PRINCE) and Microsoft Certification (Fortinet 4 Certification and/or Azure Administrator) is an asset
  • Between 4 and 5 years of professional experience in troubleshooting in an area of ICT service catalog (e.g., workplace services, telecommunications, IT help desk, etc.)
  • Good command (written and spoken) of English and Ukrainian
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
  • Confidence in managing projects and staff
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
