The purpose of this role: This role is responsible for the end to end accounting process in the country including month and year end close, and ensures consistent, accurate and robust financial accounting processes in line with accounting practices and corporate policies. This is a supporting role in the Financial Controlling and Accounting process which is a key function in the new organisational structure emerging from the Financial Transparency recommendations.

Main opportunities/challenges for this role: The main challenges for this role are to be responsible for the direct support of the end to end accounting process in the country including month and year end close, and ensures consistent, accurate and robust financial accounting processes in line with accounting practices and corporate policies, to assist at the all internal processes of the preparation of the returns and analysis.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Complete all financial tasks required for the financial month-end and year-end pre-closing steps and provide support as required for the financial month-end and year-end closing steps;
  • Maintain financial records as per corporate policy and internal audit;
  • Provide support as required on accounting transactions and adjustments (accruals, deferrals /income & expenditures/ and provisions / reserves), including Intercompany accounting, preparation and submission of payroll journals to GSD, civil services journals and other relevant documents;
  • Provide support as required with manual journals ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant policies;
  • Assist with reconciliation of all relevant accounts and ensure that this is completed to corporate standards;
  • Assist Financial Controller and Senior Accountant with provision of information to internal / external auditors;
  • Assist Financial Controller and Senior Accountant with preparation of local Tax submissions and other statutory returns;
  • To coordinate monthly Finance Control and Compliance Framework (FCCF) meetings, to gather and analyses information for each FCCF point and to prepare draft of the return before each meeting. To provide HUB with comments and explanation in regards to FCCF returns and to take part in regular teleconferences with HUB on FCCF issues. To provide BC staff with suggestions and advice in order to improve FCCF statistics. To extract bank statements and to prepare bank reconciliations for Director’s signature (processing of Pre-FCCF returns is included);
  • Support and preparation of the income reconciliation and differed income / expenditures reconciliation processes (TC & Exams), contracts & grants reconciliation process, Cash and Petty Cash reconciliation by extracting and preparation of the relevant required reports in line with BC requirements;
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting process at the area of filling information into SAP;
  • To prepare monthly Cash Flow Forecasts based on the requests from all BC Ukraine departments. To send remittance requests to HQ;
  • To perform End of Week tasks and cash control, including counting the cash at the end of the week and preparing statement. To collect the money from the bank when necessary;
  • Support GSD team concerning received requests at the area of open items, blocked / duplicated invoices and etc.;
  • Uploading of the data into SAP from TCMS system on the regular basis;
  • Preparation and submission of the relevant documents to local bank as requested including bank mandates updates, e-keys.

Skills, experience and qualifications for the advertised vacancy:

Minimum / essential

  • Qualified accountant/Finance graduate
  • University degree or equivalent
  • English not less than B2 level
  • Ukrainian, Russian – native

Role Specific Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role / Proved accounting experience;
  • Experience in working with a diverse team;
  • Experience of an ERP system;
  • Experience with SAP, 1C, Medoc
  • High experienced with Excel.
