Summary of Position: 

IREX office in Ukraine is seeking a qualified professional to fill the full-time position of Program Assistant for its project Learn to Discern. This project will equip  Ukrainian audiences, including educators, decision makers, displaced Ukrainians, with critical information engagement skills to recognize manipulative information, reject mis- and disinformation, engage with news and information content safely and responsibly, and make informed decisions free of  manipulation—all contributing to a more informed and active population that can stand united internally within Ukraine and globally to withstand and confront Russian aims to distort the truth and impinge on Ukraine’s sovereignty.

Program Assistant will work under the supervision of Program Officer and overall guidance of Senior Program Manager. He/she will assist in the implementation of program activities and carry out a variety of programmatic and administrative tasks.

Depending on changes in the war and security, IREX reserves the right to determine that the position will be based in Kyiv at a later date. This position is contingent upon funding.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide programmatic, financial, administrative, and logistical support to ensure smooth implementation of the program;
  • Support effective collaboration with program partners, stakeholders, experts, trainers, program regional coordinators and key stakeholders of the program;
  • Assist in organization of program events, including trainings, meetings and workshops (remote and in-person, depending on the changes in war and security)
  • Assist in organization of promotional campaigns and development of educational products (podcasts, videos);
  • Draft program-related documents, financial payments, reports and successful stories;
  • Carry out systematic communication with project participants;
  • Assist in procurement process;
  • Communicate with suppliers and other subcontractors;
  • Provide support to monitoring and evaluation activities, data collection, and reporting;
  • Provide Web-based research assistance for projects and publications;
  • Coordinate maintenance of program social media accounts as needed;
  • Serve as an interpreter if needed;
  • Translate program-related documents (English, and Ukrainian);
  • Control the need and procedure for using the storage with project materials
  • Travel to regions to attend program events and meetings (depending on the changes in war and security);
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • University degree – minimum bachelor level;
  • Minimum of one year of experience, preferably in NGO sector and technical assistance projects;
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks in accordance with stated deadlines;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications;
  • Knowledge of Web 2.0 tools is a plus;
  • Strong command of spoken/written English, Ukrainian and Russian;
  • Interest in media literacy, critical thinking and basic knowledge in this field is needed;
  • Ability to travel (contingent upon actual epidemiological situation and based on security recommendations provided by IREX and Government).
  • Ukrainian citizenship or residency with work authorization is required.
