About Mercy Corps:
Mercy Corps is a leading global organization powered by the belief that a better world is possible. In disaster, in hardship, in more than 40 countries around the world, we partner to put bold solutions into action — helping people triumph over adversity and build stronger communities from within. Now, and for the future.
Mercy Corps’ Ukraine response seeks to meet the needs of vulnerable Ukrainians and conflict-affected people where they are: in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, and Moldova. Through partnerships with local civil society organizations we aim to reach 500,000 vulnerable people with multi-purpose cash assistance, other humanitarian support, and protection services across the four countries.
General Position Summary
We are looking for talented early career Data Engineers to help us make a difference in the lives of vulnerable populations impacted by the conflict in Ukraine, and the lives of Ukrainian refugees outside the country. You will have opportunities to work directly with our humanitarian and technical teams to deeply understand the needs of the people we serve and use advanced cloud technology to make a real difference. As a member of an agile team, you will have opportunities for mentorship, career growth, and work on high-impact projects.
The Tech Specialist/Data Engineer will join a team working to collect, analyze and present data on every aspect of the response. As member of the Data Management and Automation Team, you will design solutions from working with stakeholders to understand the requirements, to developing data collection tools using CommCare (don’t worry, we will train you in CommCare), to implementing data analysis pipelines using Azure’s rich toolset – and finally delivering visualizations that power decisions in a complex and rapidly changing environment. Working as member of both the humanitarian and technical team, you will have the opportunity to learn and be engaged in every aspect of Mercy Corps’ and our partner consortium’s data activities.
