 Open to Internal and External Candidates

Position Title: Finance Assistant

Duty Station: Kyiv, Ukraine

Classification: General Service Staff, UG (1,300 USD per month)

Type of Appointment: Special Short-Term, Six months with possibility of extension

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Closing Date: 06 March 2023

IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context:

Under the overall guidance of the Senior Resource Management Officer and direct supervision of the National Senior Finance Officer in collaboration with Resources Management team, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for assisting the implementation of IOM projects.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with the control and monitoring of the finance activities of the IOM Mission in Ukraine.
  2. Prepare bank slips in the Bank system.
  3. Record bank transaction in IOM finance/payable programs.
  4. Maintain e-filing system for vouchers and supporting documents.
  5. Ensure proper maintenance and completeness of financial documents; contact vendors when required.
  6. Assist in preparation of monthly VAT reports for the Tax Administration Office.
  7. Assist in preparing to the internal and program audits.
  8. Bring to the attention of the National Senior Finance Officer and/or related program staff any relevant financial and reporting issues.
  9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience;

or

  • High School Degree/Certificate with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in IOM administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, cash management and internal control procedures is an advantage.
  • Work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non‐government or government institutions/organization in a multi‐cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

  • Experience in Finance and/or Accounting is and advantage
  • High level of computer literacy, in particular, experience in computerized accounting systems and software. Good knowledge of MS Office specifically Excel.

Languages

Fluency in English and Ukrainian (oral and written).

A prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station and work permit, as applicable.
