Investment Lead at The Possible

The Opportunity

• The Possible is a growing alliance of business support organisations, mayors, social investors, mentors and policymakers building a movement of impact-driven entrepreneurs. This backbone initiative is being developed as a partnership with the global social enterprise Civic, the development organization Save the Children, and the funding body the Disasters Emergency Committee.
• The Possible is building an impact fund to support impact entrepreneurs with repayable grants, debt and equity. It attracts funding globally, which is then invested with alliance partners in impact-driven enterprises. The micro to medium-sized enterprises we are supporting cover a range of sectors, including green energy, regenerative agriculture, creative industries, ecotourism, sustainable manufacturing, mental health and remote learning. 

Responsibilities:

• To conduct research and analysis on the actual and potential for the demand and supply side of the emerging social investment market in Ukraine,
• Working alongside an international consultant to support Alliance partners  to build out their impact investing activities, including but not limited to:
  • Helping alliance partners define their investment offer (product, investment terms, target investees)
  • Supporting alliance partners to develop effective due diligence and ongoing reporting frameworks 
  • Ongoing coaching to alliance partners on all aspects of fund management, including pipeline building, fund management, ongoing portfolio management, etc
• Provide research support to build the investment case and support the preparation of submissions to potential international funders. 
• Contribute to a thought paper on the potential for catalytic social finance in Ukraine.
• Supporting the sourcing of new investment partners
• Responsible for creating a reporting framework for funders and working with alliance partners to deliver timely reports on financial and impact metrics

Leadership and Line Management

• Attends weekly management meetings with Save the Children and Civic 
• Reports to The Possible executive team  

Skills & Attributes

• Investment Experience: Proven experience in either venture capital or financial services, demonstrating a strong understanding of investment principles and strategies.
• Financial Background: A financial background would be considered a valuable asset
• Passion for Impact Investment: A sincere and genuine interest in impact investment and social finance, showcasing a commitment to making a positive difference in the community.
• Dedication to Ukrainian Renewal: A strong dedication to the economic development and renewal of Ukraine, with the ability to align investment strategies with the country’s specific needs and opportunities.
• Fluent in Ukrainian and English.  
• Detail-oriented, process-driven and diligent  
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills 
• Skilled in managing quality assurance
• Skilled in working with complexity and helping foster alignment and clarity
• Digitally savvy 
• Values-driven 
• Previous experience working with global teams and cultures

Small Print

• Based predominantly in Ukraine
• Salary to be discussed
• 4 to 5 days a week, compressed hours option available 
• Willingness to travel 
• One year contract with the intent to renew
