FUNDRAISING DEVELOPMENT OFFICER at The National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society

The National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) announces a competition for the position of Fundraising Development Officer

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society is the largest humanitarian organization in Ukraine, which is one of the first to respond to all emergencies in the country and provide assistance to those who need it most.

Fundraising development is one of the cornerstones in resource mobilization capacity building for National Societies who are starting their journey in financial sustainability. (Systematic fundraising from individuals can offer many benefits, including unearmarked income generation, public awareness raising, income diversification etc.) The purpose of this role is to support the Regional Branches and the Interregional Office in developing and launching fundraising capacities; to provide ongoing guidance to project co-ordinators and help identify new opportunities in committed giving campaigns.

The Officer will provide support to the Regional Branches and Interregional Office to plan and implement relevant activities and will support the coordination of regional, national, and cross-border resource mobilization projects and data gathering.

Essential Tasks:

• In close cooperation with National Committee and Head of Interregional Office, provide support in the development of integrated and multi-channel fundraising campaigns.
• Manage, support, and develop imaginative fundraising activities, some of which will be events-based.
• Researching potential sponsors (Including among local businesses SMEs).
• Supporting local branches during negotiations with partners. Preparation of letters of appeal, presentation materials, etc.
• Contribute to bid writing for grant/trust applications.
• Reviewing, and improving internal mini-grant applications Bravo (in collaboration with the Organizational Development Department).
• Develop and coordinate web-based fundraising including social media in close collaboration with the Communication’s Department.
• Maintaining the fundraising database and documents.
• Draft a resource mobilization capacity development strategy and a KPI-driven action plan for regional organisation in close collaboration with the National Committee.
• Carry out quarterly data gathering and reporting on income generation activities in the region. Provide guidance for strategic modifications in the regional development plans.
• Monitoring and reporting on capacity building projects.
• In coordination with the Head of Interregional Office, develop resourcing opportunities with institutional donors (including embassies, NGOs, funding circles, business collectives, partner National Societies, ICRC etc).
• Carry out market studies.
• Liaise with external agents to strengthen the delivery of resource mobilization, including fundraising activities, investment, and business opportunities.
• Work closely with the Communication and Organizational Development teams to support building their resource mobilization capacities holistically.

Requirements

Education:

• University degree in a field relevant to the position or equivalent experience.
• Qualification in fundraising, marketing, management, or business as plus

Experience:

• 3 years of proven work experience as a Fundraiser or similar role (or relevant experience in marketing and sales).
• Experience working for an international organization, INGO, or in a corporate environment with an international scope as plus
• Experience in detailed campaign monitoring and analysis, including budgeting and financial control
• At least 2 years of experience negotiating with corporate partners or high-volume sales
• Experience in market research and/or organizational audits as plus
• Experience within the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement in resource mobilization and/or Organizational Development as plus

Knowledge and Skills:

• Excellent written communication skills: experienced in crafting persuasive and compelling fundraising proposals and donor reports.
• Knowledge of how to research and develop new partnerships.
• Knowledge of how to manage relationships with prospective donors, throughout the funding process, and maintain a high level of supporter care.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent relationship-building and networking skills.
• Knowledge of how to develop and write funding proposals, corporate applications, and reports.
• Excellent presentation and public speaking skills as plus
• Knowledge of the specificities of working in the charitable and humanitarian sector as plus
• Frequent travel is required.

Languages:

• Fluency in spoken and written English.
