We are currently looking for an Assessment Officer to be part of a project supporting local actors in conflict-affected areas to plan and implement localised humanitarian and early recovery activities.

REACH Initiative is a unique humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian intervention in crisis contexts. By providing precise and rigorous information on the humanitarian situation of crisis-affected populations in Ukraine, REACH informs better aid delivery and more transparent and reliable decision making. In Ukraine, REACH is hosted by our sister organisation, ACTED.

Present in Ukraine since 2014, REACH has scaled up its activities following the escalation of the conflict in February 2022. REACH is working across the country to provide humanitarian actors with rigorous data and in-depth analysis to ensure aid interventions are timely, appropriate, and relevant. As part of this, the Humanitarian Infrastructure and Damage Unit (HIDU) analyses the short- and long-term humanitarian impact of conflict-related damage to the built and natural environments, identifies and tackles knowledge gaps, and supports the humanitarian community and national authorities in addressing the immediate consequences of the conflict and informing a sustainable and climate-sensitive recovery.

In this context, IMPACT seeks to recruit an experienced Assessment Officer to engage in a project supporting local stakeholders in conflict-impacted areas to design and implement localised humanitarian and early recovery initiatives. Within this project, implemented in close collaboration with various IMPACT units and external stakeholders, the Assessment Officer will provide comprehensive support in qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and visualization pertaining to infrastructure damage, war-induced contamination, environmental hazards, and other topics, in support of localised humanitarian and early recovery efforts.In addition to technical skills in data collection and analysis, the ideal candidate will possess good communication skills and experience in facilitation and stakeholder engagement.

  • University level education in social sciences, political sciences, research or relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in data collection and/or report writing and or drafting of analytical products
  • At least 1 year of experience in working with local authorities and NGOs in humanitarian/development context
  • Prior professional experience with Adobe products (InDesign in particular) preferred
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Power Point
  • Understanding and familiarity with structures of datasets and frequency tables
  • Previous experience in managing complex professional relationships
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian and good command of English (at least Intermediate level B1)
  • Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, facilitation, presentations and capacity building activities.
  • Ability to think creatively in terms of process development and optimization.
  • Flexibility, adaptability to ever-changing needs and responsibilities, and ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Conditions

  • Official employment according to Ukrainian legislation;
  • Competitive official salary defined by the ACTED salary grid;
  • Regular performance evaluation and salary increase;
  • 28 working days of paid vacation per year;
  • Friendly international team of professionals;
  • Cozy office in the central part of the city;
  • Career development possibilities;
This vacancy is for national staff only. Applications only in English should be submitted via email. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for an interview. ACTED is an equal opportunity employer.
