Project Description:
The Promoting Reform Objectives through Technical Expertise and Capacity Transfer Phase 2 (PROTECT2) is an international technical assistance project, which offers short-term expert (Ukrainian and international) deployment and capacity to strengthening defence sector of Ukraine. The project responds to the needs of Ukraine’s defence institutions and agencies and focuses on building strong analytical approaches in gender equality; women peace and security (WPS); social inclusion; defence governance and planning, capabilities development and resource management in defence.
About the work
Alinea International is recruiting a qualified Team Lead for its Women Peace and Security Workstream to work with the administrative and technical teams of the PROTECT2 project implemented by Alinea International and funded by the Department of National Defence of Canada.
The Role
• Assume leadership over the team and the outcomes of the GE/WPS workstream, ensuring that activities and outputs are delivered in accordance with the approved workplan.
• Act as the main contact point for the GE/WPS component, liaising effectively with civilian and military officials of the Government of Ukraine, the Embassy of Canada, the international community, and civil society. Ensure all interactions are constructive, diplomatic, and professional.
• Assist the PROTECT2 Program leadership in reporting processes, ensuring the effective communication and positioning of the results of the PROTECT2 work on the GE/WPS workstream.
• Support the PROTECT2 Project leadership in positioning and communicating the results of the PROTECT2 work regarding WPS and Gender Equality more broadly.
• Lead, guide, and mentor the technical experts, ensuring effective task assignment and execution, both on an individual and team basis.
• Review and approve products developed by the GE/WPS technical experts, ensuring they meet project standards and objectives.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and serve on selection panels for the recruitment of GE/WPS technical experts.
• Assist in coordination and building synergies between defence and security sector actors to implement GE and the WPS agenda and fulfill the objectives of the WPS workstream.
• Collaborate with other PROTECT2 team leads to optimize the full integration of GE and WPS agenda into other workstreams.
• Organize and conduct events such as training, workshops, seminars, and conferences in accordance with project Standard Operating Procedures and ensuring alignment with approved approaches and methodologies to fulfill the objectives of the GE/WPS workstream.
• Develop and revise pertinent materials to bolster the execution and achievement of the Gender Equality and WPS objectives.
Required Qualifications:
Mandatory:
• Undergraduate degree in social sciences or a related field (i.e. Bachelor or equivalent)
• Minimum of five years of working experience in management and leadership positions
• Minimum of three years of working experience in gender equality, diversity and inclusion,
• Written and spoken mastery of Ukrainian and a strong working knowledge of English
Desirable:
• Experience in applying gender equality within a military and/or security context
• Background in public policy
