Communications Associate at UN Women

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

UN Women work in Ukraine focuses on supporting the government and civil society in advancing gender equality and implementation of the national and international commitments on gender equality and women’s human rights. UN Women Ukraine implements interventions towards the realization of following st rategic goals: elimination of violence against women and girls; implementation of women, peace and security agenda and gender responsive governance. UN Women works closely with the UN Country Team in integration of women’s rights and gender equality in all spheres of UN work.

Since the beginning of the Russian full scale military invasion, Ukraine is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s most complex emergencies.

The communications and advocacy activities will raise awareness about existing problems in achieving gender equality, celebrate women’s leadership and inclusion, feature real-life stories from women and men, girls and boys that promote equality by means of compelling content, impactful media collaborations, influencer engagement, and digital communication tools, alongside the evidence generated through various knowledge products. Where possible, efforts will also be aligned with government communications activities to leverage momentum and opportunities for reaching wider audiences.

Requirements for candidates:

• 3 years of experience in a communications role with the following job-related functions: digital communications, web management, social media management, copywriting, graphic design.
• Advanced skills in graphic design, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premier or similar, Canva, and more, social media video production/editing/subtitling
• Familiarity with Drupal, HTML, Readymag is strong asset
• Experience in coordinating multimedia production (photo, video, digital media);
• Proficiency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory (English -advanced/proficient, C1/C2)
• Experience in writing and editing communications texts in English and Ukrainian
• Ability to produce creative solutions, and operate under strict deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and sociall sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
• Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
• Have affinity with or interest in human rights, gender equality, women’s rights, volunteering as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
• Master degree or equivalent in Communications, PR, Marketing, Social Media Management, Digital Production, Journalism
• Ukrainian, Level: Fluent, Required
• English, Level: Fluent, Required
