Together with national, regional and local authorities, civil societies, private sector, UNDP strives to support Ukraine in its efforts to eliminate poverty, develop people’s capacity, achieve equitable results, sustain the environment, and advance democratic governance.
UNDP is in line with 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to achieve national strategic capacity development.
The war in Ukraine has resulted in significant loss of life; unprecedented displacement, internally and towards neighbouring countries; and devastating destruction of infrastructure. Eighteen years of socio-economic achievements in Ukraine are at risk. UNDP’s core engagement is to preserve development gains as fully as possible, and to return Ukraine to pathways towards achieving the SDGs as quickly as possible.
UNDP launched its Resilience Building and Recovery (RBR) framework for Ukraine on 11 April 2022 to immediately respond to the development and humanitarian challenges. The overall objective is to preserve development gains in Ukraine, mitigating risks of descent into a governance and service delivery crisis, embedding activities for recovery from the onset of the humanitarian effort, and facilitating a swift return to development pathways and processes for national attainment of the SDGs.
Responding to the challenges posed by the full-scale war, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine is supporting national authorities in Ukraine to conduct recovery planning and implementation based on verifiable evidence and quantitative data. UNDP project ‘Strengthening Evidence-Based Recovery in Ukraine’ (Project) aims to address emerging needs for enhanced data-driven recovery planning identified through continuous consultations with national and local stakeholders and international community members. The Project will leverage the comprehensive data collected during its initiation phase, including digital maps from the building damage assessment (BDA), satellite imagery, and orthophoto plans. This data will be used to enhance resilience and efficiency in recovery and development through a collaborative, multi-faceted approach that includes further investment in capacity development for data handling, digital literacy, and geospatial analysis for the target community members and partners, i.e., local, regional and national authorities as appropriate.
The Project also emphasizes the establishment of systematic and gender and disability-disaggregated data, wherever applicable, as well as collection methods to enhance local service delivery, planning, and monitoring for targeted communities. To ensure sustainability and national ownership, the Project will facilitate the establishment of a Knowledge Recovery and Replication (RKR) Hub to support communities in adopting digital tools, exchanging best practices, and conducting research on data usage for improved recovery processes.
Based on the above, UNDP Ukraine is seeking a qualified Data Analyst who will join the Project team under the overall supervision of the Project Manager and will work on providing actionable analysis for UNDP Ukraine and the national partners.
