Security Officer at Help - Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe

Help is seeking a qualified professional to fill the position of Security Officer. The Security Officer will work under supervision of the Project Manager and will be responsible for the support of programme activities.

Location: Security Officer will be based in Kyiv

Starting date: ASAP

Starting salary: 1350 EUR (gross)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develops, recommends, and implements appropriate safety and security procedures.
• Analyses security-related information and conducts Security risk assessments in order to identify threats and risks to the organization personnel and property.
• Manages security issues on a day-to-day basis.
• Conducts regular appropriate exercises (fire and evacuation drills, communication tests, etc.) to ensure staff preparedness for emergencies.
• Ensures that staff is kept informed on matters affecting their security and that the newly hired staff is briefed about those matters.
• Conducts daily Security situation check-ups with the staff.
• Reports on all cases in which staff security has been compromised and initiates follow up actions.
• Develops and regularly reviews internal evacuation and emergency contingency plans (emergency evacuation, assembly/safe areas, and emergency communications).
• Conducts regular physical security surveys of facilities.
• Ensures that all operations and activities are conducted in a safe way.
• Ensures that staff participating in field trips is briefed about the area-specific major routes and alternate routes, availability of safe havens and actions to be taken in the event of emergencies, road accidents, breakdowns, etc.
• Ensures that appropriate level of confidentiality is maintained with regard to security matters.
• Establishes contact across their area of responsibility with all relevant local authorities as appropriate.
• Performs any other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

• First-level university degree in security studies, risk, disaster or emergency management, social/political science, military science, public administration, law enforcement, law or related field will be considered as an advantage.
• Minimum of three years of experience in security or risk management.
• Knowledge, understanding and ability to manage security challenges in conflict environment.
• Ability to identify and analyse emerging security problems and propose solutions.
• Professional fluency in English and Ukrainian.
• IT Literacy.
• Problem-solving, good communication and teamwork skills.
• Initiative, attention to detail and high sense of responsibility.
• Good organizational and management skills.
• Possession of a valid automobile driving license and ability to drive using manual transmission will be considered as an advantage.

Reporting and communication:

The Security Officer reports to the Project Manager according to the reporting procedure set by Help.

Additional proofs (diploma, references, etc.) are not needed at this stage.
