We are currently looking for a Senior Assessment Officer (SAO) to lead the development and implementation of a research cycle aiming to increase our understanding of external factors (such as natural disasters, climate risks and environmental damage) likely to compound humanitarian needs and hinder recovery in selected settlements in Ukraine. This will involve leading a multi-disciplinary team with up to (5) five direct reports.
REACH Initiative is a unique humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian intervention in crisis contexts. By providing precise and rigorous information on the humanitarian situation of crisis-affected populations in Ukraine, REACH informs better aid delivery and more transparent and reliable decision making. In Ukraine, REACH is hosted by our sister organisation, ACTED.
Present in Ukraine since 2014, REACH has scaled up its activities following the escalation of the conflict in February 2022. REACH is working across the country to provide humanitarian actors with rigorous data and in-depth analysis to ensure aid interventions are timely, appropriate, and relevant. As part of this, the Humanitarian Infrastructure and Damage Unit (HIDU) analyses the short- and long-term humanitarian impact of conflict-related damage to the built and natural environments, identifies and tackles knowledge gaps, and supports the humanitarian community and national authorities in addressing the immediate consequences of the conflict and informing a sustainable and climate-sensitive recovery.
REACH is seeking an experienced Senior Assessment Officer and implementation of a research cycle aiming to enhance the understanding of external factors (such as disaster and climate risks, environmental contamination, access restrictions due to landmines, impacted livelihoods, etc.) likely to compound humanitarian needs and hinder recovery in selected settlements in Ukraine’s East and South. Under the guidance of the unit’s Research Manager (RM), the SAO will manage a multi-disciplinary team of up to (5) five direct reports; plan and implement research activities; engage with a range of external stakeholders to ensure our data is appropriately informing response and recovery efforts; disseminate assessment findings through appropriate channels; and contribute to the development of further research cycles based on identified of knowledge gaps. The ideal candidate will be eager to work in a dynamic and fast-paced organisation, with opportunities to help build the mission’s portfolio. Please refer to ToR for details.
