Chief Operating Officer at Teach For Ukraine

Teach For Ukraine is an NGO that works to ensure the future where all children in Ukraine have access to an excellent education, regardless of their socio-economic background. It is part of the global network of organizations Teach For All, which aims to address educational inequity worldwide. 

We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer to oversee and lead the smooth functioning of our internal operations, providing the necessary support to ensure our teams can achieve their goals. 

As the COO at Teach For Ukraine, your role will carry great responsibility and impact. You will play a critical part in shaping the organization’s growth and influence its efforts to provide children in Ukraine with greater opportunities to fulfill their potential.

Location: Ukraine, Kyiv preferred

Start date: Immediate

Responsibilities

• Work with the Board  in setting the vision and strategic plan for the organization
• Oversee the implementation and management of the organization’s core program and projects
• Ensure the financial and legal soundness of the organization
• Oversee organization’s budget and financial operations
• Ensure that the organization has the right talent, structure, and policies in place to support its mission and goals
• Implement systems and processes, promote collaboration and communication across teams
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, such as funders, government agencies, schools. 
• Ensure consistency and adherence to organizational standards across the organization, especially with increasing scale.

Key Professional Characteristics

• Passionate about education and Teach For Ukraine’s mission
• At least five years of experience with broad management and operational responsibility in the private, non-profit or public sectors  
• Passion for fixing problems and establishing effective systems
• Strong financial literacy, and excellent attention to detail
• Fluent English and Ukrainian, both written and spoken.
