Mental Health and Psychosocial Services (MHPSS) Advisor at Making Cents International

Making Cents International seeks a Mental Health and Psychosocial Services (MHPSS) Advisor to work on the USAID-funded Ukraine National Identity Through Youth (UNITY) activity. UNITY fosters vested ownership among young people in the country’s democratic, European future by further mobilizing youth leadership of a values-based conception of Ukrainian identity grounded in innovation, engagement, and pluralism. UNITY is addressing the key domains identified in USAID’s Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach: building youth assets, fostering resilience, offering age-appropriate experiences for youth contribution, and strengthening the enabling environment, while intentionally and safely promoting dialogue and belonging around this pluralistic identity and incentivizing participation and leadership by historically marginalized groups.

On UNITY, the MHPSS Advisor will lead the development and delivery of Making Cents’ technical assistance for all mental health and psychosocial services activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan for and implement technical assistance in the areas of mental health and psychosocial services, with a focus on trauma-informed care for Ukrainian youth
• Provide technical direction to the UNITY team on integrating trauma-informed approaches for youth into all activities
• Develop and deliver trainings on trauma-informed care and positive youth development to stakeholders
• Establish and maintain a MHPSS Community of Practice for youth workers
• Lead the development and implementation of an internship program, as requested, and manage colleagues’ participation in the program
• Lead MHPSS activity planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting
• Support client relationship management
• Travel to UNITY activity sites (as security allows)
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Current resident of Ukraine
• Oral fluency in Ukrainian and English
• Excellent writing skills in Ukrainian and English
• Extensive knowledge of mental health and psychosocial support standards and best practices as it pertains to youth ages 15-35
• Ability to track and manage multiple workstreams
• Process-oriented
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Good working knowledge of MS Office applications

Our ideal candidates have:

• Experience in MHPSS in international development or humanitarian settings
• Experience working on US Government-funded activities
• University degree in psychology, social work, or a relevant field
